With a focus on organisational efficiency and management, Kim ensures that the clinic functions smoothly to provide optimal care and services. 
 
Her dedication to the administrative aspects of the clinic contributes to the overall success of our menopause and women's health clinic. 
 

JANET HOWE 

 
Janet is a distinguished figure in women's health, holds the esteemed title of being a British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist and an independent Prescriber. With an impressive 37-year career in nursing, including 26 years dedicated to general practice with a specialisation in women's health, Jan brings a wealth of experience to her practice. 
 
Jan's expertise extends across contraception, sexual health, and in-depth knowledge of the menopause, including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Notably, she is proficient in fitting Mirena coils and contraceptive implants, showcasing her commitment to providing a comprehensive range of services as an independent prescriber. 
 
Currently on the path of academic advancement, Jan is working towards her Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice, a testament to her dedication to staying at the forefront of her field. 
 
Beyond professional expertise, Jan intimately understands the menopausal experience, having personally navigated its physical and mental aspects. Her empathetic approach is further highlighted by her memberships in both the British Menopause Society and the International Menopause Society. 
 
Jan's passion for women's health is evident in her desire to ensure that all women have the opportunity to access menopausal care. She envisions a landscape where women are supported through this transformative phase of life, emphasising her commitment to the well-being of her patients. 
 

Dr JO BURGIN 

 
Jo, an accomplished medical professional in the field of women's health, holds a Masters in Sexual and Reproductive Health research, complemented by postgraduate diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Her dedication to advancing reproductive and hormonal health is evident in her international work, where she focused on delivering crucial training to clinicians in low-resource countries. 
 
As a clinical editor for the Contraception Choices website, Jo plays a pivotal role in developing informative content on perimenopause. Additionally, her affiliation with the British Menopause Society underscores her commitment to staying at the forefront of menopause-related advancements. 
 
Jo's recent studies, particularly in Contraception for Women over 40 and Mental Health and Perimenopause, have shed light on the pressing need for enhanced services in women's healthcare. Her contributions extend beyond research papers published in the British Medical Journal; she has also presented her findings on peri-menopause within Bristol's black communities, showcasing a commitment to inclusivity and community health. 
 
Despite her extensive contributions to research and academia, Jo remains grounded as an NHS GP in Bristol, where she continues to advocate for comprehensive and holistic care for her patients. Her passion for improving women's healthcare services is not only evident in her studies but is also a driving force in her everyday practice. 
 

YVETTE PYNE 

 
With a notable research interest in perimenopause, she has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in improving the diagnosis of perimenopause through the innovative use of Artificial Intelligence. Currently serving as an NIHR research fellow at the University of Bristol, Yvette is at the forefront of advancing our understanding and treatment of menopausal transitions. 
 
Her passion for women's health dates to her medical school days, where she garnered publications and prizes related to various stages of a woman's life. Yvette is also skilled in fitting contraceptive intrauterine coils, showcasing her commitment to comprehensive women's health care. 
 
In addition to her expertise in women's health, Yvette is a trailblazer in LGBTQ+ health, with a clinical special interest in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals.  
 
Her dedication is exemplified by her role at the Welsh Gender Service, where she provides compassionate care for trans and non-binary individuals. As a member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH) and the British Menopause Society (BMS), Yvette stays abreast of the latest advancements in sexual and reproductive health, ensuring that her patients receive the highest standard of care. 
 
Beyond her clinical and research endeavours, Yvette is deeply engaged with the Bristol community. She has conducted workshops within underserved communities to better understand their experiences of menopause, presenting her findings at national conferences. Yvette is also the driving force behind the 'Bristol Menopause Toolkit,' an informative website that serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking reliable information on menopause. 
 
In summary, Yvette is a dedicated and knowledgeable professional, committed to advancing the fields of menopause, women's health, and LGBTQ+ healthcare. Her multifaceted expertise, from research to clinical practice and community engagement, positions her as a leader in providing comprehensive care for individuals in Bristol and beyond. 
 

ALICE THOMAS 

 
Her journey began with her medical education at the University of Liverpool School of Medicine, where she laid the foundation for her career. After graduating in 2004, she embarked on her career in medicine, initially working as a GP in Merseyside. 
 
However, it was her move to Sydney, Australia, in 2010 that proved pivotal in shaping her professional interests. There, she discovered her passion for women's health and particularly for managing the menopause, while working in a bustling family practice. This experience ignited her dedication to providing comprehensive care for women during the perimenopause and menopause stages. 
 
In 2013, Alice returned to the UK and settled in North Somerset. She continued her work as a menopause doctor, now complemented by a role as a mental health assessor. Alice is committed to offering evidence-based and personalised advice to her patients, recognising the significance of lifestyle factors in managing symptoms. She approaches her practice with empathy and support, valuing the opportunity to empower women through education and guidance during this transitional phase of life. 
 
Beyond her professional endeavors, Alice cherishes her time with her two young boys and embraces a love for the countryside. She finds solace in outdoor activities such as running and walking in the fields, and enjoys embarking on family adventures, including road trips in their campervan. 
 
In summary, Alice exemplifies a healthcare professional who is not only dedicated to her patients' well-being but also finds balance in her personal life through nature and family time

With a personal interest after her own POI journey, Tia assists our clinical team to offer group sessions for women going through Premature Ovarian Insufficiency to ensure that all women feel supported.

Are you feeling confused due to the conflicting advice on using HRT and unsure what is happening to you? 
 
Here at the Bristol Menopause & Wellwoman Clinic we can help you through this difficult time by providing a holistic, expert service in a caring and empathetic environment. Medication can also be prescribed if appropriate. 
 
Having struggled to find the help required during her own menopause, our founder Hazel Hayden started undertaking her own research into the Menopause and the various treatment options available. Bristol Menopause and Wellwoman Clinic was set up to ensure that other women did not have to struggle through the peri-menopause and menopause without professional help and support.  
 
We can offer you a personalised and individual consultation to review your symptoms, lifestyle and tailor treatments to suit you. We are also happy to consult via Video if you are unable to attend our clinic in person. Please email or telephone to discuss this. At the end of the consultation, a detailed report will be sent to your GP for continuity of care, and we will arrange a review date with you to monitor symptoms and treatment.  
 
Our clinic also able to prescribe body-identical hormone replacement therapy, which is safer than older HRT treatments. We offer a wider range of HRT treatments than the NHS.
